April 16, 2012 Dear Colleagues, The ACC12 meeting in Chicago was a success by all accounts.  In addition to an excellent scientific program the expected changes occurred in the College leadership.  Dr. Bill Zoghbi replaced Dr. David Holmes as president of the ACC.  Dr. Thad Waites handed off the Chair of the Board of Governors to Dr. Dipti Itchhaporia from California.  These are all excellent leaders who will serve the College well as we transition from the past CEO Jack Lewin to a new administrative leader. During the past year we have had chapter functions in Tupelo, Jackson, and Biloxi.  We had a Credo meeting in Greenville addressing healthcare disparities.  It is always beneficial for our members to discuss issues of mutual interest to our patients and our practices.  Our next Chapter meeting will be during the MSMA meeting in Point Clear, Alabama on Saturday June 9th from 1:30- 2:30 pm.  We will discuss our plans for the coming year. Currently we are planning a Preventive Health Symposium in Jackson on Saturday February 2, 2013.  This will be in association with the MS ACP, the MS AAFP, and the MSMA.  We hope to make a concerted effort over the next five years to effect a significant impact on cardiovascular illness through preventive measures. I hope you will plan to join us in Point Clear and I especially hope you will join our efforts to improve Mississippian’s health and raise Mississippi’s standing in national healthcare standings through a concerted program of preventive health.
